Pesanan Tegas Senator Isaiah

Simposium turut diserikan dengan ucaptama oleh YAM Tunku Zain Al-‘Abidin ibni Tuanku Muhriz, bertajuk “The Future is Inclusive: Advancing Equity in Education for Neurodiverse Learners Through Partnerships”.

Spotlight Showcase Di SEN Symposium: Bakat Tanpa Batas

– NMH

KUALA LUMPUR — The I-Nation Global Summit 2024 concluded today with Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Datuk Hj Mohamad Yusof Apdal, expressing optimism about Malaysia’s position as a regional leader in technology and innovation. The three-day event at Nexus Connexion in Bangsar South brought together over 4,500 participants, including global leaders, innovators, and policymakers, under the theme “Collaborate. Innovate. Elevate: Advancing Impactful Innovation Together.”

In his closing remarks, Yusof highlighted the summit’s success in fostering cross-border collaboration and promoting innovation across six key industries: 4IR Technologies, Autonomous Tech, 5G Connectivity, Life Sciences, HealthTech, and Sustainability. “This summit has provided a platform to elevate Malaysia’s position in innovation, ensuring that our nation and Southeast Asia remain competitive in the global market,” he said.

I-Nation A Platform for Progress and Partnerships

Yusof reflected on the significance of the summit, which featured keynote speeches by prominent figures such as AirAsia CEO Tan Sri Tony Fernandes and economist Prof. Dr. Jomo Kwame Sundaram. Key moments included the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement between MRANTI and CyberSecurity Malaysia, and matchmaking sessions connecting technology solution providers with industry seekers.

He underscored Malaysia’s advancements in AI and automation under the National 4IR Policy and praised Johor’s emergence as a major data centre hub in the Asia Pacific. “Johor’s strategic location and access to energy resources have made it a key player in the region, hosting 13 data centres across more than 15 hectares,” he noted.

The deputy minister also emphasised Malaysia’s commitment to food security, citing initiatives such as the National Agro-Food Policy 2.0, which aims to modernise agriculture through technology while reducing import dependency and ensuring fair pricing for consumers.

Key Achievements of the Summit

Among the highlights were discussions on the ASEAN Power Grid and renewable energy goals, aligning with Malaysia’s upcoming ASEAN 2025 Chairmanship under the theme of “Inclusivity and Sustainability.”

Yusof described the summit as a “crucible of connection,” fostering partnerships and collaboration to address pressing global challenges.

Satellite events such as the NTIS Global Sandbox Forum and the Supercharger Finale provided hands-on workshops, product demonstrations, and networking opportunities. “Through meaningful exchanges in sessions and informal settings, the summit has sparked new ideas, inspired partnerships, and deepened friendships,” he added.

A Resounding Call to Action

The I-Nation Global Summit 2024 has proven to be a vital platform for advancing innovation and sustainability in the region. By bringing together global leaders and industry pioneers, the event reinforced Malaysia’s leadership in technology and its role in driving inclusive development within ASEAN.

As the summit concluded, Yusof urged participants to continue driving impactful innovation beyond the event. “Let us carry forward the spirit of Collaborate. Innovate. Elevate. Together, we can create a brighter, more sustainable future—not just for our organisations but for our communities, our nation, and the world,” he said.

The success of I-Nation 2024 sets a strong foundation for Malaysia’s innovation ecosystem as the nation gears up for its ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025, with a focus on advancing impactful solutions for a sustainable future. – NMH

The post As I-Nation Global Summit 2024 Concludes, Malaysia Affirms Leadership in Innovation first appeared on NMH.

KUALA LUMPUR – Experts and policymakers gathered at the Asia-Europe Institute (AEI), Universiti Malaya, on Friday for a thought-provoking forum examining the potential impact of a second term under former U.S. President Donald Trump on foreign, economic, and security policies concerning Malaysia, ASEAN, and the broader Indo-Pacific region.

The event, held in collaboration with the Malaysian Association for American Studies (MAAS) and the American Universities Alumni of Malaysia (AUAM), sought to provide a nuanced analysis of the shifting geopolitical and economic landscape under a possible Trump presidency in 2024.

Titled The 2024 U.S. Presidential Election – The Second Trump Administration: Implications for U.S. Foreign, Economic, and Security Policy for Malaysia, ASEAN, and the Indo-Pacific Region, the forum featured prominent figures in international relations and economics. Distinguished Professor Dr. Rajah Rasiah, Tan Sri Mohamed Jawhar Hassan, Datuk Siobhan Das, and Mr. Oh Ei Sun shared their insights, with Prof. Dr. K.S. Nathan serving as the chairperson.

U.S.-Malaysia Trade Relations in Focus

In his keynote address, Professor Dr. Rajah unveiled findings from his co-authored analysis, “Trump’s 2024 Presidential Elections Victory: Likely Scenario for U.S.-Malaysia Trade Relations.” Dr. Rasiah highlighted how Malaysia’s evolving political alignments and U.S. foreign policy under Trump could reshape bilateral trade.

His analysis pointed out a slight decline in Malaysia’s exports to the U.S. in 2022, which stood at just 10.8 percent, reflecting the growing economic influence of China over Malaysia’s trade dynamics.

“The trajectory of U.S.-Malaysia trade is shifting,” said Dr. Rasiah, noting that while the two nations’ economic ties have deepened since the mid-20th century, recent developments suggest that Malaysia’s future economic strategies will need to adapt to the evolving global landscape.

The Geopolitical Implications of Trump’s Policies

Tan Sri Mohamed Jawhar Hassan, a veteran of international relations, addressed the broader implications of a potential second Trump term, focusing particularly on his protectionist trade policies and tariffs on Chinese imports. Jawhar highlighted the significant challenges Malaysia could face as the U.S. seeks to strengthen its domestic economy while pressuring China.

“Malaysia must navigate the fine line between its economic interests with the U.S. and its growing ties with China,” Jawhar said, cautioning that the region’s economic future could be influenced by the U.S.’s hardline stance on China.

Strengthening Malaysia’s Position in the Global Economy

Datuk Siobhan Das, CEO of the American Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia (AMCHAM), shared insights on how Malaysian businesses could leverage their competitive advantages in response to the evolving trade environment. Highlighting the opportunities within Malaysia’s technology-driven sectors, she emphasized the importance of agility in adapting to both U.S. trade policies and the broader regional economic shifts.

“Malaysia’s success will depend on how well it can diversify its partnerships and maintain a competitive edge in high-growth industries,” said Das.

Trump Administration, Regional Stability and ASEAN’s Role

Mr. Oh Ei Sun provided a geopolitical perspective, examining how a second Trump administration could affect regional stability and ASEAN’s strategic positioning. He pointed out that ASEAN nations would need to bolster multilateral cooperation to mitigate risks posed by the U.S. pivot away from traditional alliances.

“ASEAN must adapt by enhancing its economic resilience and political cohesion to face potential uncertainties brought about by U.S. foreign policy shifts,” Oh noted.

Looking Forward: A Call for Strategic Engagement

The forum, organised by AEI and partners concluded with a consensus that Malaysia and Asean must remain adaptable in the face of potential policy shifts under a second Trump term – Photocredit Asmaa Rassy

The forum concluded with a consensus that Malaysia and ASEAN must remain adaptable in the face of potential policy shifts under a second Trump term. Participants emphasized the need for Malaysia to strengthen its bilateral ties with the United States while simultaneously diversifying its global economic relationships.

As the world watches the lead-up to the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election, this timely forum underscored the complexities Malaysia faces as it seeks to maintain its strategic position in the rapidly evolving Indo-Pacific region. – NMH

PETALING JAYA – The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) in Petaling Jaya has received a high-tech boost to its operations with the donation of an advanced surveillance drone worth RM60,000 by QNET, a leading global wellness and lifestyle company. This initiative, part of QNET’s “Championing Communities” program, underscores the company’s commitment to leveraging innovation for the betterment of society.

The official handover ceremony, held at Qi Tower, marked a significant milestone in public safety collaboration. The cutting-edge drone, equipped with high-resolution cameras, night-vision capabilities, GPS tracking, and additional enhancements such as lighting, speakers, and extra batteries, is designed to enhance the police force’s ability to monitor public areas, respond swiftly to emergencies, and access challenging locations. These features are expected to bring tangible benefits, including improved crime prevention and quicker response times, ensuring greater safety for the Petaling Jaya community.

Technology for Community Empowerment

Speaking at the event, Mr. Krishna Kumar, Director of Business Development at QI Group, highlighted the importance of innovation in fostering safer environments: “At QNET, we believe technology has the power to transform lives.
A Safer, Smarter Future

The initiative doesn’t stop at technology deployment. QNET envisions a more connected and inclusive approach to safety, incorporating community training and feedback mechanisms. The company aims to equip residents with tools and knowledge to actively engage with safety measures, creating a collective sense of responsibility.

Beyond its immediate application in surveillance and emergency response, the drone’s features, such as environmental monitoring, align with broader sustainability goals. This effort is part of QNET’s vision to build smarter, safer, and more resilient communities through innovation.

A Holistic Approach to Public Safety

The donation reflects QNET’s dedication to partnerships that create meaningful change. Through collaboration with the police and community leaders, the initiative fosters trust and inclusivity, ensuring long-term benefits for the people of Petaling Jaya.

As the drone begins operations, residents can look forward to a safer environment where technology serves as a bridge to greater connectivity and peace of mind. This milestone not only enhances local security but also sets a precedent for how private-public partnerships can drive social progress. – NMH

The post Advanced Drone Donation by QNET Enhances Safety in Petaling Jaya first appeared on NMH.

With a festival atmosphere, thrilling aerial displays, and a host of ground-level activities, including the lighthearted paper plane tournament, Malaysia’s first Air Sports Championship is shaping up to be much more than just a competition. It’s a chance to inspire a new generation of air sports enthusiasts and position the country as a rising star in the field.

Kuala Lumpur – The air around MAEPS Serdang is already buzzing with excitement as Malaysia prepares to host its first Air Sports Championship next week. The three-day event, running from 11 October, is more than just a debut on the national air sports scene — it’s a statement of Malaysia’s intent to become a regional leader in the field by 2027.

The event is set to bring the skies of Selangor alive, not just with competitive flyers but with activities that promise to thrill both seasoned pilots and curious spectators. Mohamad Fadzli Abd Aziz, Deputy President of the Malaysia Sports Aviation Federation (MSAF), calls it a “new frontier” for Malaysia, which is seeking to grow its influence on the international air sports circuit.

The Championship will follow the Malaysia Air Sports Festival, a four-day celebration of all things aerial, which kicks off on 10 October. The festival and championship aim to introduce air sports to a broader audience, demystifying a discipline that’s often seen as niche.

Air Sports for Everyone

One of the standout features of the festival will be the hands-on experiences offered to visitors. Far from being an event exclusively for the elite few, the festival encourages public participation. Want to feel the wind rushing past you in a two-seater plane? Or perhaps you’ve always dreamed of floating above the treetops in a hot air balloon? Both are on offer. There’s also the drone racing for those more comfortable with their feet on the ground but eager to try their hand at piloting—albeit remotely.

Visitors are not just limited to watching from the sidelines. Organisers are keen to bring air sports to the masses, with activities like paramotoring, skydiving, and helicopter rides scheduled to dazzle attendees. The event hopes to show that air sports isn’t just for daredevils or professionals, but can be enjoyed by all Malaysians.

A paper plane tournament, a unique addition to the event, invites children and adults alike to test their folding and flying skills in a playful competition that brings everyone into the fun of flight, regardless of experience.

“We want people to experience the exhilaration of air sports firsthand,” says Fadzli. “It’s about breaking down barriers and making this sport accessible.”

A Festival Atmosphere

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="768" src="https://newmalaysiaherald.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/WhatsApp-Image-2024-09-30-at-182714-1024x768.jpeg" alt="At the press conference, MSAF Deputy President Fadzli, along with Exco Seniman Dato Zamshuri, Food Festival Director Khairol Aswaz, MSAF Advisor Capt.
While the skies will be packed with action, the ground will offer plenty of entertainment, too. *Food stalls, souvenir booths, and live performances by local artists will add to the festival atmosphere, making it as much a family day out as an air sports showcase. The food festival, which runs alongside the air events, is also a platform for local entrepreneurs to promote their culinary creations to the expected 50,000-plus visitors.

Project Director Khairol Aswaz Datuk Kamaruddin believes this dual-purpose event offers local vendors a golden opportunity to market their products to a diverse and enthusiastic crowd.

Focus on Safety

With high-flying stunts and complex aerial maneuvers, safety is top of mind. Datuk Mohd Nawawi Awang, the event’s Operational and Safety Advisor, emphasises that meticulous planning has gone into ensuring all activities are carried out under strict safety protocols. From airspace use applications to continuous monitoring of flight zones, the organizers have left no stone unturned.

“The safety of both participants and spectators is our utmost priority,” says Nawawi. “We’ve undertaken extensive risk assessments and have a team on standby to ensure everything goes off without a hitch.”

Vision for the Future

This first-of-its-kind championship comes at a time when air sports in Malaysia are poised for rapid growth. The collaboration between MSAF and the Ministry of Youth and Sports is a strategic move aimed at positioning Malaysia as a key player in Asia’s air sports scene. Organizers are already eyeing the country’s future role as a hub for international competitions, with a goal of solidifying its place on the global air sports map by 2027.

What to Expect

Visitors can expect a packed schedule, with activities ranging from aeromodelling displays and delta wing flights to exhibitions showcasing the latest in air sports technology. For those looking to dip their toes into the sport, there are public participation zones inviting visitors to take part in “Mari Mencuba” (Come and Try) sessions.

With the festival atmosphere, thrilling aerial displays, and a host of ground-level activities, including the lighthearted paper plane tournament, Malaysia’s first Air Sports Championship is shaping up to be much more than just a competition. It’s a chance to inspire a new generation of air sports enthusiasts and position the country as a rising star in the field. – NMH

The post Malaysia Takes to the Skies: First Ever Air Sports Championship Prepares for Takeoff first appeared on NMH.

Launch of SAMS is seen as a major milestone in the journey towards making Malaysia a hub for sports aviation in the region, inspiring the next generation of athletes and enthusiasts to reach new heights.

PUTRAJAYA – In a significant stride towards the digitalisation of sports aviation, the Malaysian Sports Aviation Federation (MSAF) today unveiled the Sports Aviation Management System (SAMS), marking a pivotal moment for the sector, promising enhanced efficiency, safety and innovation.

According to Hannah Yeoh, the Minister of Youth and Sports, at the launch today, the MSAF team should be lauded for their dedication and vision in launching the application, remarking that the SAMS application is a groundbreaking tool that not only streamlines management processes, but also elevates safety standards and provides real-time data for athletes, coaches, and administrators.

“The SAMS application is not just a management tool, it is a symbol of progress and a catalyst for transformation,” she remarked, indicating that this is streamlined with the government’s commitment towards digital transformation and innovation in sports.

Sports Aviation Under TVet

Hannah later explained that her Ministry is ready to collaborate with MSAF to identify aspects that can be developed in the Technical Education and Vocational Training (TVET) course. She believes that the Sports Aviation activity, which has been categorised as a sport, can attract students in schools to be more interested and deepen their interest in science subjects such as physics.

“As we have informed, this (aviation sports) is a sport gazetted in the Sports Development Act, called as air sport. After being gazetted, companies can get a tax reduction of up to RM1,000 for any equipment used.

“KBS wants to establish a collaboration with MSAF to see how we can develop TVET courses, because TVET under KBS focusses on the sports industry,” he said.

The President of MSAF, Nurhaqimy Ismail, disclosed that international recognition for SAMS has already been received, with several countries showing interest in adopting the system.

“The Airsports Federation of Asia has notably expressed a keen interest, highlighting the application’s potential to transform sports aviation management on a global scale,” he added.

Nurhaqimy also expressed gratitude to all partners involved in the development of SAMS, including Identex Digital Sdn Bhd, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), AIM Aerial Technologies, Generali Insurance Malaysia Berhad, and Futurise Sdn Bhd. He underscored the collaborative effort that made the SAMS application a reality, noting its potential to set new standards in sports aviation management.

Safer Sports Aviation

The SAMS application integrates a wide range of functionalities, from managing licenses and certificates to live tracking and performance monitoring, all while ensuring compliance with strict safety regulations. This innovative tool promises to make recreational and sport flying easier and safer for everyone involved.

Among the highlights of the event today was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between SAMS and strategic partners, and the Minister and MSAF leaders elaborated on the future prospects of SAMS and its expected impact on the sports aviation sector.

On another note, when asked by the media, the Minister disclosed that the Malaysian contingent to the Paris 2024 Olympics will dress up in outfits designed by the country’s leading fashion designer, Rizman Ruzaini, at the opening ceremony of the Games, which is scheduled to take place on 27 July.

Hannah Yeoh said that a ceremony to display the Malaysian contingent’s outfits for the Opening Ceremony will be held on 24 July.

“The official outfit for this year’s Olympics is under MSN (National Sports Council) and we have enlisted the services of leading Malaysian designer Rizman Ruzaini.

“That’s all I can say. I believe that our athletes will don the outfits with pride during the Olympics Opening Ceremony.

“We prioritise the Malaysian characteristics and the comfort of athletes and incorporated these into the designs. I have seen the designs, and what I can say is, the outfits are elegant,” she added, hinting that it is a far cry from the earlier designs for the contingent, sponsored by Yonex.

Bahrain downgrades relations with Israel amid growing Arab anger about Gaza genocide

More than 9,000 lives have been lost in the Gaza Strip due to the Israeli military’s relentless attacks, as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defiantly declares that nothing will halt their offensive. On Thursday, another residential block in the Bureij refugee camp was destroyed by airstrikes, leaving at least 15 people dead and many more feared trapped under the rubble.

Tragically, a Palestinian journalist, Mohammad Abu Hattab, was also killed in a strike on his home in Khan Younis. Alongside him, eleven members of his family, including his wife, son, and brother, lost their lives. The mounting death toll has sparked outrage across the region, leading Bahrain’s parliament to announce a downgrade in its relations with Israel, becoming the first signatory of the Abraham Accords to take such action.

Despite international condemnation, Prime Minister Netanyahu remains resolute in continuing the assault. Addressing soldiers, he emphasized that the Israeli army had made significant progress, even though they had suffered painful losses, including the deaths of at least 16 soldiers. Netanyahu’s message was clear: nothing will deter Israel from its mission.

Simultaneously, there has been a surge in attacks by Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank, coinciding with the bombardment of Gaza. In the village of Deir Sharaf, settlers rampaged through the area, leaving Palestinians trapped in their homes. Dozens of settlers, under the watchful eye of Israeli troops, attacked 20 homes, set fire to vehicles, and threw stones. The village council head, Shadi Abu Halawa, described the horrifying scene, with columns of smoke rising and the screams of terrified children echoing through the air.

Palestinians From Gaza Arrested

In occupied East Jerusalem, Israeli police arrested several Palestinians from Gaza who were accompanying patients in a hospital. These individuals, who had permits issued by Israel, were taken into custody, including women, young men, and a boy. The arrests also led to the questioning of the hospital’s deputy director.

Bahrain’s decision to downgrade diplomatic relations with Israel marks a significant break from the Abraham Accords. The ambassador to Israel has been withdrawn, and economic cooperation with the country will be put on hold. This move aligns with Bahrain’s longstanding support for the Palestinian cause and their commitment to the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, as previously declared by King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

While the impact of Bahrain’s decision may be limited, it reflects the enduring support for the Palestinian cause among Arab populations, despite diplomatic shifts by their governments. Arab governments are cautious about potential unrest and protests that could challenge their legitimacy, especially when their relationship with Israel and the United States is called into question.

China In America’s Proxy War In Gaza Strip

As the Israel-Palestine war rages on, the death toll continues to rise, and the world watches with growing concern. The impact of these events reverberates far beyond the region, highlighting the urgent need for a peaceful resolution and an end to the suffering endured by both Israelis and Palestinians. – Agencies

The post Over 9,000 Dead In Gaza As Netanyahu Vows “Unstoppable Force” first appeared on NMH.

Matthew Perry, known for his iconic role as Chandler Bing on ‘Friends,’ has left an indelible mark on Hollywood, even as he struggled with personal challenges.

Matthew Perry, the charismatic actor celebrated for his portrayal of Chandler Bing in the iconic TV series ‘Friends,’ has tragically left us at the age of 54. His life was marked by remarkable talent, undeniable charm, and a battle with personal demons that he courageously fought.

The news of Perry’s passing has sent shockwaves through Hollywood and around the world. His body was discovered at a Los Angeles-area residence, submerged in a jacuzzi, an apparent victim of drowning. Authorities found no evidence of drugs at the scene, confirming that no foul play was involved. The Los Angeles Police Department has been tight-lipped about details, but the loss of this beloved star is deeply felt by millions.

Devastated

Warner Bros., the studio behind ‘Friends,’ issued a heartfelt statement in which they expressed their devastation at the loss of Matthew Perry. He was not just an incredibly gifted actor but also an integral part of the Warner Bros. Television Group family. Perry’s comedic genius touched people worldwide, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of his countless fans. It’s indeed a heartbreaking day for the entertainment industry.

Born on August 19, 1969, in Williamstown, Massachusetts, Perry’s journey to fame was paved with determination and family ties. His mother, Suzanne Morrison, was a journalist and press secretary to Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, and his stepfather was the renowned Dateline correspondent Keith Morrison. Perry’s father, John Bennett Perry, was an actor and model, and the younger Perry even guest-starred on his dad’s show, ‘240-Robert,’ in 1979. The Daily Mail UK reported that the late Matthew’s father who passed away earlier today has been seen arriving at the actor’s home. John Bennett Perry, 82, was seen arriving at the home where first responders were called to earlier today.

Perry’s move to Los Angeles as a teenager set the stage for his illustrious career. He made his debut in the entertainment industry with TV guest appearances and recurring roles. However, his big break came in 1994 when he joined the cast of ‘Friends’ as Chandler Bing. The show became a cultural phenomenon, and Perry’s portrayal of the sarcastic and commitment-phobic Chandler was a standout performance. He received an Emmy nomination in 2002, and the cast became the highest-paid ensemble in television history, earning a whopping RM4.78 million per episode.

Matthew Perry’s Personal Challenges

Despite his success, Perry faced personal challenges. He openly shared his struggles with addiction, seeking treatment in 1997 and 2001. He candidly admitted to abusing alcohol and Vicodin, a consequence of a Jet Ski accident in 1997. Yet, it was during his darkest days that he found his purpose, founding Perry House, a men’s sober living facility, and becoming an advocate for those battling addiction.

Matthew Perry’s ‘Friends’ castmates stood by him through thick and thin, exemplifying the bonds they formed during the show. In his own words, they were like penguins, rallying around him when he needed support. These enduring friendships were evident during the 2021 HBO Max reunion show, highlighting the closeness of the cast even after all these years.

Following the conclusion of ‘Friends’ in 2004, Perry faced challenges finding a new hit on the small screen. Several shows, including ‘Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip,’ ‘Mr. Sunshine,’ and ‘Go On,’ had limited runs. However, he continued to shine in various projects, from acting in London’s ‘The End of Longing’ to his work on the silver screen in movies like ‘Fools Rush In,’ ‘The Whole Nine Yards,’ ‘Serving Sara,’ and ’17 Again.’

In his memoir, Perry revealed his health struggles, including a life-threatening episode when his colon ruptured due to OxyContin use. Doctors gave him a mere two-percent chance of survival, and he had to use a colostomy bag for about a year. This experience was a turning point, leading him to embrace sobriety and to counsel others on its importance.

Matthew Perry’s life and career were marked by resilience and a deep commitment to overcoming challenges. His legacy as Chandler Bing on ‘Friends’ will forever be cherished, and his advocacy for sobriety will continue to inspire those fighting their own battles. As we say goodbye to this talented and courageous soul, we remember the joy he brought to millions and the strength he displayed in his darkest hours. Matthew Perry may be gone, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved and admired him. – Agencies

More than half of Gaza’s hospitals non-functional, aid needs unmet, and fuel running out

In the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict, the situation in Gaza has reached a critical point. Heavy Israeli bombardment, the most intense since 7 October, has resulted in the deaths of at least 400 Palestinians in the past 24 hours. Shockingly, more than half of Gaza’s hospitals are no longer functional, and the remaining medical facilities are under threat of being bombed by Israel.

The dire situation in Gaza is exacerbated by the fact that only 0.002 percent of the enclave’s immediate aid needs have been met. The United Nations’ World Food Programme has reported that the region is on the brink of running out of fuel within three days. This scarcity of resources further hampers the ability to provide essential medical care to the affected population.

In a tragic incident, an Israeli air strike hit a house in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, resulting in the deaths of seven Palestinians, including children. The Israeli bombardment has also targeted areas near al-Shifa and al-Quds hospitals, raising concerns about the safety of medical facilities and the well-being of patients.

Deep Concern

The international community is closely monitoring the situation. China’s envoy to the Middle East, Zhai Jun, has expressed deep concern, stating that the conflict in Gaza poses a serious risk of spreading throughout the region. China is willing to play a constructive role in promoting dialogue and achieving a ceasefire.

Western leaders, including US President Joe Biden, have reiterated Israel’s right to defend itself. However, they have also called for the protection of civilians and the immediate release of all hostages. The Quint, consisting of the US, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, and the UK, has welcomed the arrival of aid convoys in Gaza but acknowledges that only a minuscule fraction of the enclave’s relief needs have been met so far.

The situation remains dire on the ground, with reports of bodies being recovered from the rubble following Israeli air strikes in Rafah and Jabalia. The Palestinian Civil Defence has stated that at least 30 bodies have been found, mostly women and children, and there are still many people trapped under the debris.

As the conflict escalates, the US State Department’s Bureau for Consular Affairs has issued an advisory urging American citizens in Lebanon to leave immediately due to the unpredictable security situation. The war between Israel and armed Palestinian groups based in Gaza has raised concerns about the potential for further violence and instability in the region.

The international community must continue diplomatic efforts to prevent the conflict from spreading and work towards a lasting ceasefire. Urgent action is needed to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, ensure the safety of hospitals and medical facilities, and provide essential aid to the affected population.

The post Gaza Crisis Intensifies To Critical Point, Israeli Bombings Stepped Up first appeared on NMH.
