Barisan Nasional’s Ramli Mohd Nor bulldozed through with majority more than 3000 votes over Pakatan Harapan’s M. Manogaran. Ramli also makes history as the first Orang Asli to be elected Member of Parliament.

The election also proved that the Barisan Nasional’s engine team with MCA and MIC worked flawlessly with UMNO and PAS delivering the win. This spells great news with for the coalition and will be a great confidence boost for upcoming Rantau and Semenyih.

On Pakatan Harapan’s side all was not well. From the nomination day to the campaign period Pakatan big guns were brought in often at times over shadowing M. Manogaran their candidate.

But the message was not about the by-election but rather another anti-Najib campaign. Many voters have been used to this overused strategy since GE14. DAP too offended the Orang Asli by offering them to make them full citizens of Malaysia. There was no real offer to the people of Cameron Highlands on what Pakatan Haparan could do for them other than attacking “kleptocrat” Najib. It was clear that panic had set in as soon as Najib walked into the campaign grounds.

The message is clear. For Barisan Nasional teamwork is absolute paramount if they want to win Rantau and Semenyih. For Pakatan Harapan, they need to work on their policies and not ignore the voters. Voters are still upset over the non delivery of the manifesto and dismal effort on key electorate needs such as education. Attacking Barisan Nasional and Najib will not work anymore.

The post BN wins Cameron Highland by-election first appeared on NMH.

Less than 36 hours from the time of writing, Cameron Highlands will see a new Member of Parliament. This needless-to-be-held by-election comes hot off the heels of the disqualification of the then winning MP, Datuk Sivarraajh Chandran on allegations of vote-buying and intimidation. Datuk Sivarraajh who had contested under the BN banner, denied the allegations, but the High Court held its ground, despite contradicting testimonies from the witnesses.

The election will see DAP candidate Manogaran going against BN’s Ramli Mohd Noor. However, it seems more like the whole of the Pakatan Harapan machinery going against Dato’ Sri Najib alone.

The campaign had started earnestly. Seeking to drive a wedge between UMNO and MIC, Lim Kit Siang had tried to portray that UMNO would not be giving way to MIC to contest in this by-election, while Manogaran, seeking to tar UMNO as a Malay supremacist party by claiming Malays don’t buy kuih from Orang Asli, was sent reeling when MIC decided to give way to UMNO, who decided to field Ramli, a retired high ranking police officer and an Orang Asli instead.

Despite the initial setback, Pakatan Harapan machinery went into overdrive, with ministers making their way to the hilly resort, once famous for the missing former Special Operations Executive spy, of whom Ian Fleming’s 007 character was based on.

The campaign made an interesting turn when former Prime Minister DS Najib joined the campaign rub. Rub as in literally, he had rubbed nearly each and every minister for their seeming inability to bring results.

This indirectly resulted in PH losing focus and begin targeting DS Najib, instead of campaigning properly. Countless attacks had been launched against DS Najib, instead of addressing issues that would be critical on the ground.

It must be infuriating for them to see DS Najib getting away with his trolling on them.

With the Election Commission currently being solely helmed by a Pakatan Harapan friendly individual, change in voting hours have further angered the public against Pakatan Harapan, and DS Najib had skilfully played these issues to his advantage.

Regardless of the result for tomorrow’s by-election, a win by BN will be seen as an endorsement of DS Najib. While a loss would only further alienate Pakatan Harapan government from the very people that had supported them to power.

The post Cameron Highlands – Najib vs Pakatan Harapan first appeared on NMH.

Pakatan Harapan is clearly spooked by Najib Razak’s visit to the Cameron Highlands by-election that it seems to throw it’s entire machinery against him. Almost every speech or “ceramah” is about Najib.

Prime Minister Mahahir Mohammad today likened Najib to “rogue” Israel while addressing Felda settlers at Cameron Highlands. The entire speech was not about what Pakatan Harapan government can do for the people of Cameron Highlands but rather the “evil ways” of Najib along with the previous accusations against him prior to GE14. He also claimed that voters should be ashamed for supporting UMNO.

Another Pakatan Harapan leader, Hanipa questionned why should an ex prime minister come to the campaign grounds.

Anwar Ibrahim too accused of meeting Malaysians without “a care for what he has done” and that 1MDB was “bigger than previously thought” referring to the government investment vehicle 1Malaysia Development Berhad.

Pakatan Harapan’s Cameron Highlands campaign has been filled with problems from start, many of which involved offending the Orang Asli. Just few days ago, Lim Kit Siang in his Twitter post claimed that the Orang Asli (aboriginal Malays) are not “full Malaysians” and offered to make them one should they vote Pakatan Harapan.

The Barisan Nasional machinery has been experiencing steady support being more in touch with the locals with a boost from Najib Razak’s visit. Barisan Nasional’s expected Cameron Highlands win would be a major confidence boost for the coalition.

The post Spooked Pakatan Harapan campaigns against Najib first appeared on NMH.

The Orang Asli are the aboriginal or native settlers of Malaysia migrated to the area between 2500 and 1500 BC. It is widely known and accepted that they are the first Malaysians or “bumiputera”.

This is not the first time Kit Siang has insulted the Orang Asli since the campaign for Cameron Highlands by-elections started. Recently he supported claims by PKR senator Bob Manolan that Orang Asli leaders would not be paid if they voted for Barisan Nasional. While Bob Manolan has since apologised, Kit Siang did not.

Barisan Nasional fielding an Orang Asli candidate is strongly looked upon as the likely winner.

The post Kit Siang claims Orang Asli are not full Malaysians first appeared on NMH.

He claimed that it is for the development of Cameron Highlands after paying visit to Felda Sungai Koyan.

Campaigning for M. Manogaran who recently offended Orang Asli by claiming Malaysia don’t buy their delicacies and has since then refused to apologised.

DAP has also been caught bribing the Orang Asli with “petrol money” with photographs making rounds in social media.

Pakatan representatives have been caught giving money to Orang Asli who were at the campaign and photographic evidence has been making rounds in social media.

DAP operations centre manager dismissed it as petrol allowance which is clearly prohibited by Electoral Committee. DAP veteran and adviser Lim Kit Siang then deflected the issue to Barisan Nasional by asking how much they provided. He also claimed the money was provided was for “petrol allowance”.

Meanwhile Prime Minister Mahathir Mohammad denied any money was paid ignoring Lim Kit Siang’s statement.

Chiong Yoke Kong, Tanah Rata campaign manager, has also admitted that these Orang Asli reached the destination by bus. He also asked: “What is wrong with a Pakatan bus ferrying volunteers?”

Datuk Seri Ti also asked “if the Orang Asli were ferried by bus, why would they require petrol allowance ?”

“The Cameron Highlands by-election was initiated because of the Election Court’s ruling that the Barisan Nasional candidate had allegedly committed an act of vote-buying and bribery in the last general election. But now who is buying votes? It is very clear.

DAP has had nothing but trouble since the campaign started when M. Manogaran was caught offending the Orang Asli which he has refused to apologise. PKR Senator Bob Manola was also caught threatening Orang Asli leaders for their votes.

Since leaving office after the May 9 elections, the former prime minister had found personal strength and surge of supporters including those who had previously voted Pakatan Harapan.

Many now wish Najib to come back as prime minister citing the government dismal performance and lack of interest in governance. Najib has been taking on the government on his highly anticipated daily posts amassing huge following. His posts has also caused many changes in policies and turnarounds further reducing Pakatan Harapan’s credibility.

Not too long ago Najib was written off as a liability to UMNO and Barisan Nasional. Today he is seen as a crowd puller.

Pakatan Harapan is rightly worried about Najib campaigning for Barisan Nasional as their campaign thus far has been mired with problems including offending the Orang Asli and alleged bribes.

The post Najib to visit Cameron Highlands campaign on January 17 first appeared on NMH.

MCA Vice President, Datuk Seri Ti Lian Ker said that the DAP advisor needs to accept the responsibility for the controversy offending the Orang Asli.

He added to add insult to injury from the comment, the party’s candidate M. Manogaran further offended them by claiming Malays do not buy Orang Asli delicacies.

While PKR has since apologies for the behaviour of Bob Manolan, M. Manogaran arrogantly downplays the Bob Manolan incident.

As such MCA urges Kit Siang to apologise to the Orang Asli community and push M. Manogaran to retract his offending statement.

Pakatan Harapan has been feeling the heat of the Cameron Highlands by election as various members of the coalition have been making unwarranted statements against Orang Asli. Pakatan Harapan election staff too had be photographed offering bribes to Orang Asli community.

While Barisan Nasional candidate’s seat was declared vacant following offering of monetary tokens by third party during the last general elections. However the Electoral Committee now has claimed that it was acceptable to provide tokens to lower income community. – New Malaysia Herald

The post DAP needs to apologise to Orang Asli for threats first appeared on NMH.

He said that Bersih should be verifying if the Orang Asli were ferried by bus, provided food and “petrol money” before arriving at a conclusion.

It was unfair for Bersih who claims to be the proponent of “free and fair elections” to simply dismiss an allegation based on a statement alone.

A photograph of a woman in Pakatan Harapan t-shirt has been circulating in social media. DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang claimed that the RM20 was reimbursement for “petrol money”. The incumbent MP Datuk C. Sivarraajh who won the parliamentary seat for GE14 was disqualified when money was given to Orang Asli voters by a third party.

The post Ti Lian Ker asks Bersih “Why defend Pakatan?” first appeared on NMH.
