The Iskandar Puteri MP disappeared from public eyes after leaked Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) investigations papers linked his son, Lim Guan Eng, with the multi-billion Penang tunnel scandal.

Now the 78-year veteran politician has returned, crossing swords with Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) leader Datuk Seri Maximus Ongkili over 1MDB at Sandakan parliamentary by-election campaign.

Kit Siang wants to know, as to how he has been asking everyone on the street for past few years, on whether Maximus had ever raised questions on 1MDB.

The PBS leader was a former minister for over 9 years in the previous Barisan Nasional federal government under Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

“We want to ask Maximus, who was a minister for over 9 years if he ever objected or raised this (1MDB) issue?

“If he never (did), it would mean his party does not really care for the welfare of the people.

“How can his party be trusted?” he told a rally at Kampung Sim Sim in Sandakan on Tuesday night, April 30, according to several press reports.

DAP candidate for Sandakan by-election is newbie Vivian Wong, 30, who has already kicked started her campaign aggressively, including cleaning up Muslim cemeteries.

PBS is fielding candidate former Batu Sapi MP, Datuk Linda Tsen Thau Lin.

Penang tunnel scandal is the biggest scandal since the infamous Forex scandal rocked the country under 4th Prime Minister’s watch in the 1990s.

Leaked MACC investigation papers on the tunnel scandal were published in online portal Malaysia Today since February this year.

The leaked papers have implicated not just Guan Eng but also several other DAP’s current and former elected representatives in the Pakatan Harapan’s Penang Government.

Kit Siang, who has claimed to have written or spoken millions of words since becoming a parliamentarian in 1969, has failed to write or utter a single word on the multi-billion tunnel scandal. Inevitably many Malaysians have been asking Kit Siang, a self-anointed anti-graft crusader, on why he had sat mute on Penang tunnel scandal that had implicated his son Guan Eng, the former Penang Chief Minister and current Finance Minister.
