Roommate arrested and cops hunting for two other suspects
KUALA LUMPUR: A local man was found dead with a gunshot wound to the forehead in a hotel room in Bukit Bintang on Tuesday (03 May) afternoon, an hour after he checked in.
Kuala Lumpur Criminal Investigation Department chief Senior Asst Comm Habibi Majinji said the incident was observed by a hotel employee who received entry to the room and then called the police at about 7 pm.
“The victim, a 46-year-old man from Johor, checked into the hotel at 6 pm on Tuesday. Police have detained his roommate for investigation,” he said when contacted via Bernama.
Habibi said there was no apparent rationale for the incident and the firearm used has not been found.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, he said.
Meanwhile, the Kuala Lumpur district police chief Assistant Comm Noor Dellhan Yahaya said police have identified two more suspects who are believed to be involved in the murder and a hunt for the suspects who are in their 40s and 50s is ongoing.
He said the suspect in his 40s who was arrested not long after the murder on Tuesday (03 May) was remanded for five days from today for investigations.
Noor Dellhan said police are trying to ascertain the motive behind the murder and urged those with information on the case to contact Dang Wangi police at 03-26002222 or the nearest police station. – New Malaysia Herald
