It was a poignant moment for the guests, which included Malaysia’s King and Queen, when Najib Razak’s youngest son, Ashman, weds Nikola Mulyadi in a ceremony given the full blessings by his father who was notably absent
KUALA LUMPUR – Norashman Najib (Ashman), the youngest son of Malaysia’s sixth Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Abdul Razak and Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, officially tied the knot with his fiancee Nikola Mulyadi in an akad nikah ceremony on Thursday and celebrated the occasion with a Majlis Kesyukuran (thanksgiving ceremony) on Friday night.
Even up to the point when the newly-weds were walking hand-in-hand into the ballroom at Pavillion Hotel here, the guests, which comprised mainly of close relatives and friends as well as dignitaries and UMNO officials, were still expecting a miracle in the form of the former Premier being freed and attending the event himself.
While no such miracle happened last night, everyone made the best of the occasion and wished the couple good tidings and happiness till the end of time.
Blessings From The King and Queen
To give blessings to the couple were the Yang Di Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and the Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah. Other dignitaries included the Deputy Prime Minister and UMNO President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, the Yang DiPertua Negeri of Melaka, Tun Mohd Ali Rustam and the Menteri Besar of Pahang and Johor, Datuk Seri Haji Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail and Datuk Onn Hafiz Datuk Ghazi respectively.
Prior to the thanksgiving ceremony, the Raja Permaisuri Agong graced the ‘majlis cukur rambut’ (cutting of hair ceremony) of Najib’s two grandchildren, Aidan and Amelia Rahah Daniyar. They are two out of three children of Najib’s daughter Nooryana Najwa with her husband Daniyar Kessibayev.
Ashman Broke Down
In his speech, Ashman spoke about how he met Nikola who hails from Indonesia and when the Covid-19 pandemic was at its peak, they were not able to meet due to the MCO restrictions. After the MCO was lifted, he plucked his courage to visit her in Indonesia and the rest, they say, is history.
He also teared when he expressed sadness that his father Najib was not able to be present at the ceremony, which saw the other guests wiping their tears too.
