Former prime minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi will be buried at Makam Pahlawan (Warriors’ Mausoleum), at Masjid Negara, after Zohor tomorrow. His son-in-law and former health minister, Khairy Jamaluddin, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had spoken with the late Tun’s son, Tan Sri Kamaluddin Abdullah, regarding the burial arrangements.
KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia mourns the loss of its 5th Prime Minister, Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, who passed away at 7:10 PM at the National Heart Institute (IJN) here.
Tun Abdullah, affectionately known as Pak Lah, had been receiving treatment at IJN since April 2024 following a serious heart attack. He led Malaysia from 2003 to 2009 and is remembered for his gentle leadership and emphasis on civilizational Islam and anti-corruption efforts.
Following his retirement from politics, Abdullah continued to contribute to public life and was honored with the title “Tun” in 2009 for his services to the nation.
