Johor Polls: Maszlee To Contest In Layang-Layang

Maszlee is also said to be the menteri besar candidate for PH if the coalition wins in this election

Johor Bahru – Former Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) Education Minister Maszlee Malik will contest the N27 Layang-Layang state constituency in the upcoming Johor state election.

PKR President Anwar Ibrahim in an announcement in Johor today (14 Feb) said Maszlee will be the only MP to contest in the 12 March state polls.

“I am confident he will do well in Layang-Layang even though he is a new member of the party, but he is an icon in his own right.

“He has been championing the same causes like us. That’s why I want to highlight Maszlee tonight,” said Anwar.

Maszlee, who is also the Simpang Renggam MP is said to be the menteri besar candidate for PH if the coalition wins in this election.

Layang-Layang comes under Simpang Renggam Parliament constituency.

“The eastern and central zone candidates will be announced in a day or two as there are other matters to be sorted out,” Anwar said.

Other PKR candidates are S Gopalakrishnan, who will seek re-election in Tiram and Johor Wanita PKR chief Napsiah Khamis for Kempas.

Dr Zamil Najwah Arbain, who vied for Tanjung Surat in GE14 but lost, will be contesting the Larkin seat.

PKR Youth secretary Fakhruddin Moslim and Arthur Chiong, both new faces will be running for the Pasir Raja and Bukit Batu. – New Malaysia Herald
