Land Down Under Makes Lucky Top Five Best Countries In The World

“I come from a land down under

Where beer does flow and men chunder

Can’t you hear, can’t you hear the thunder?

You better run, you better take cover, yeah”

We have all hummed to “Land Down Under” by Men At Work sometime or another. It’s an iconic song about a man who is traveling and is recognized from “down under” and the “lucky country”. Australia is an amazing country and it’s hard to compare it with any other country in the world. We have beautiful beaches, amazing and unique wildlife, incredible land masses, and of course Vegemite.

New Malaysia Herald, as most of you know is based out of the bustling city of Melbourne, Australia.

Sure, we change our prime ministers more times than we change our underpants but Australians are a boisterous bunch in a country that has a lot to offer from mature democracy and a thriving multiculturalism. It’s no surprise most Australians think that they live in one of the best countries in the world.  It’s an icing on the cake when that thought gets confirmed in an official study.

How so. The best country ranking is based on a comprehensive analysis of over 70 factors for 87 countries. The study originates from a survey of more than 17,000 people in a project between US News and World Report, marketing company WPP, and a business school from the University of Pennsylvania.

Countries were ranked on categories including heritage such as food and cultural attractions, quality of life with factors such as the job market, income equality, and education system, and social purpose, like the prevalence of human rights and commitment to climate goals.

Australia ranks in the sweet top 4 out of five countries! Contributing to our high overall ranking, Australia ranked as the third country in the world for the agility category (based on factors like adaptability, progressiveness, and responsiveness), eighth for quality of life, and eighth for adventure, which comes as no surprise.

Switzerland, Canada, and Sweden topped the rankings in first, second, and third place respectively, and the United States came in fifth place.

The top 10 countries in the world according to the study.

If still need convincing that Australians do live in a top 5 country, we have included some pictures from Australia’s backyard.

And finally, we know you were humming “Land Down Under” while reading this article so here is the video we dug up. You’re welcome!
