Former Prime Minister Najib Razak was admitted to HKL Tuesday afternoon. The tests came out positive for Covid-19 infection.
KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia’s 6th Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who was hospitalised at Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) on Tuesday afternoon has tested positive for Covid-19 infection, a source told NMH today.
The former Prime Minister was admitted for high fever and severe sore throat yesterday and routine tests conducted on him this morning read positive for Covid-19 infection.
Najib, who is serving a 12-year sentence in Kajang Prison for the SRC International case, is noted for his transformation programmes implemented during his nine-year tenure as Prime Minister which brought Malaysia to greater heights.
Among these were the Government Transformation Programme (GTP) and Economic Transformation Programme (ETP) which saw the income per capita of Malaysians increase from US$7,059 to US$10,426 in the first six years of the premiership.
Another phenomenon was the world’s longest bull run for 12 years.
We wish the former Prime Minister well and hope and pray that he will recover soon. – NMH
